As part of EQVEGAN activities, the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology at the University of Zagreb (FFTB) successfully ran trainings for students and professionals in the field of plant-based food products.
The lectures (EQF levels 6 and 7) were held at the Faculty, both online and face-to-face, and the University of Zagreb approved 10 ECTS credits for students who successfully completed the planned activities.
In the end, 31 persons completed the final assessment, 12 participants from industry and 19 from academia. The top performers in the exams were congratulated and awarded with certificates at a dedicated ceremony at the Faculty on October 6^th, 2023.
Trainees were extremely satisfied with the new knowledge and skills acquired in the fields of plant-based food processing, sustainability, automation/digitalisation, and soft skills.
They also emphasised that “plant-based foods” are a new trend, and that industry is expecting skilled workers on this topic; for this purpose, it would be excellent to implement these modules and training as compulsory subjects in the Faculty’s studies.
As commented by Prof. Ph.D. Anet Režek Jambrak, leader of the EQVEGAN project at FFTB: “the exceptional interest shown by the students and industry partners was the culmination of such a great idea and productivity behind the EQVEGAN ERASMUS+ project.
It will be a great privilege to continue training with the EQVEGAN modules in the study programmes of the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology at the University of Zagreb.
